Beat Information And Leasing/Exclusive Rights:
Leasing A Beat (Basic Lease):
When you lease a beat, you are granted a limited license over it.
Limited License grants the Buyer the right:
- To make one (1) derivative work with the music (example: making a demo record by adding vocals)
- To make one (1) commercial use of the derivative work for profit, or for non-profit (example: sell the derivative song on CD, online, mixtape, etc.)
- To distribute, perform the derivative work
Limited License requires:
- That the Buyer makes a derivative work before distributing, performing, or selling the song
- That the Buyer credits the Producer for the composition
Limited License prohibits the Buyer from:
- Selling the music in it's original form without a derivative work being made (BUYER CANNOT RESELL OR LICENSE THE MUSIC/BEAT/COMPOSITION AS IS)
- Claiming ownership of the musical composition. Ownership and Copyright is retained by that of the producer or agency of legal right.
Leases are priced between $20 and $40.
Unlimited/Premium Lease:
Sell your songs unrestricted for UNLIMITED for-profit albums or internet downloads, in either combination and you keep all earnings. In addition, you may use your songs for radio broadcasts, paid performances, websites, tv & film, ringtone, music video, etc.
Same rights/contract as Leasing A Beat but you may use/sell your song an unlimited amount of times.
Ownership and Copyright is retained by that of the producer or agency of legal right.
All Unlimited Licenses cost $100.
Exclusive Rights:
You will receive a MP3 file of the beat (or song), untagged (free of soundmarks) and/or a copy of the raw WAV file. The song file will be delivered digitally. Exclusive rights grant you unlimited commercial recordings and broadcasts. You have full rights to record, alter, mix the beat/song in any shape, way, or form (except reselling the beat). You will receive a contract through e-mail granting you exclusive rights to the beat. You own the recording as a "work made for hire". The original seller may no longer lease or sell the beat/song, except for prior leasing rights holders and his/her own promotional page (no downloads there). The seller will not receive a royalty from the sale of records or downloads. You must however give full credit to the seller (artist and/or producer name) on all commercial recordings.
Exclusive Rights may cost anywhere from $600 to <$1,000.
PLEASE NOTE: NOT ALL BEATS ARE AVAILABLE AS EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS.
Free Downloads & Demos:
Sometimes free downloads are given out, and most of the time, $.99 demo downloads are given out. These free downloads and demos are for NON PROFIT use only. You may use them in YouTube videos, and FREE mixtape downloads. They are to audition the beat and promote yourself. You may NOT sell the beat itself, nor sell the song you created with the beat for profit. If you like what you have recorded and wish to sell the song you created with the beat, you must purchase either a lease, premium, or exclusive rights.
